Dear L’Opéra Friends and Customers,

The Samandari family is delighted to introduce the inaugural edition of L'Opéra's quarterly e-Newsletter. For us, this is yet another opportunity to celebrate milestones together. From using the French Embassy kitchen almost 10 years ago to opening our flagship outlet at Khan Market in 2011 and gradually becoming India's first authentic French Pâtisserie, Boulangerie and Salon de Thé, it has been an emotional and at the same time a wonderful journey. In our first edition, we bring you the most useful and interesting information on our expansion and new outlets that have helped L'Opéra grow its presence to over 17 points of sale at some of the premium addresses in Delhi-NCR & Dehradun. In the next few months, we may also open our first-ever outlet in Mumbai, but more on it in our next edition.

Happy reading,
Anupma Mishra, Editor

L’Opéra, the authentic French Pâtisserie, Boulangerie and Salon de Thé (Pastry, Bakery, Tea Room) has expanded its wings across Delhi-NCR. In the past few months, the brand successfully launched five new outlets at some of the premium addresses in the capital that includes GK2,M-Block Market; Green Park, Main Market; Defence Colony Market; Max Towers, Noida and Aerocity that is drawing an ever-growing number of visitors. At the same time L’Opéra renovated its flagship Khan Market Outlet that first opened in March 2011 by giving it a totally fresh, elegant and distinctive new look.

The Max Towers outlet is an important milestone for L’Opéra as it is one of the largest outlets of the brand located at the newly-launched Max Towers--an excellent corporate office tower in sector 16 B, near DND Flyover, Noida. It's an authentic French style Salon de Thé that is spread over 1500 sq. ft. and can accommodate up to 52 guests to enjoy the very best of the concept. Inaugurated by H.E. Alexandre Ziegler, the French Ambassador to India in a glittering ceremony on June 29th, the Grand Opening witnessed over 200 guests including Ambassadors, politicians, NGO representatives, personalities from the world of business, arts & fashion, Indian alumni of French business schools and patrons. The event was widely covered by the media.

L’Opéra has been consistently covered by both Indian and International media. One of the highlights has been the article authored by the company's Executive Chairman, Kazem Samandari, for the Sunday Guardian newspaper on the influence of French cuisine on the Indian food culture and the gradual acceptance and appreciation for the French food by the Indian diners. The piece was well received and was retweeted by H.E. Alexandre Ziegler, the Ambassaor of France to India and other diplomats.

It was also a great moment of pride for L’Opéra to be featured on the French national mid-day news aired on France 2 TV, the French public service broadcaster.

“When I close my eyes, the smell of the food at L’Opéra takes me back to my hometown. L’Opéra started very small and is now becoming bigger and even more beautiful with each outlet. It is a true Indo-French success story made of passion, entrepreneurship skills and a vision to create a market in India for authentic and high-quality French products at a time when it was only limited to five-star hotels in India. Their success is evident from the fact that almost 90% of the customers are Indians. L’Opéra has made the French pastry and bakery flavours available to the common man of India by opening so many outlets which is commendable.”

-- H.E. Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France to India - 29th June, 2019
In order to maintain the exacting standards of perfection and elegance, L’Opéra frequently invites renowned French culinary experts to its production facility in Noida. Last month, L’Opéra welcomed Chef Gilles Maisonneuve, a French Pastry Chef with three decades of experience. Chef Gilles has worked with some of the best in the business such as Lenôtre and is also credited with the creation of the dessert menu at Hotel Ritz and developing training programs for French Culinary Art in Japan, Brazil, and the United States of America. He also developed the “Masterclass Intensive Training Program” and created “The Art of Macarons” course which even won European Grand Prix for Innovation Awards in 2005. Here on a two-week visit, Chef Gilles not only introduced new products such as the full vegan range but also imparted training to L‘Opéra’s talented chefs. He was also responsible for laying out the beautiful spread at the Grand Opening Brunch of the Max Towers’ outlet.
The founding family strongly believes in its core values that also form the foundation of the company. One of the values that the Samandaris firmly stand by is Gender Equality. Both Kazem and Christine Samandari have played an instrumental role in maintaining a fine balance by giving equal opportunities to everyone irrespective of their gender. The fact that the female and male ratio stands at around 35% and improving speaks volumes of the efforts made in this direction. From offering work-from-home option to new mothers to women in the support staff and female chefs in the kitchen, the family has made sure that the women are offered equal opportunity and pay as men.
L’Opéra has recently secured the services of Chef Robin Bessege, a young chef from France who has joined the brand as Chef Innovation & Quality Assurance Manager. Chef Robin brings with him close to a decade of experience in working at several fine-dining restaurants across the world as a Pastry & Bakery Chef and Chocolatier.
Choux à la crème, a classic light choux pastry filled with fresh cream is the latest addition to L’Opéra’s line of products that is scheduled to be launched soon. The brand will also launch its full vegan range beginning September to coincide with 'Navratras', the fasting period for Hindus.

" 6-star food. Keep up the good work."
