Dear L’Opéra Friends and Customers,

Since the Covid-19 outbreak around the world as well as here in India, we have stepped into an era of confinement to protect both ourselves as well as the society at large. We firstly hope that you are all safe even if the rigours of confinement have impacted our daily lives. We, at L’Opéra, continue to work and find solutions to bring our products to you in accordance with the guidelines issued by Central and State authorities. L’Opéra has resumed a limited production and delivery service.

A reduced product range is now available through online pre-orders (minimum value INR 1500) at https://loperaindia.com/shop/ or by calling +91 8800097255 between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Your orders will be delivered hygienically at your doorstep the next day between 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

We continue to expand our presence in Delhi-NCR to cater to more and more customers. Our latest Salon de Thé opened in February in Vegas Mall, Dwarka offering a range of sweet and savoury delicacies with the French touch. L’Opéra reached another milestone with the Grand Opening of its first Café Restaurant in Civil Lines, which was officially inaugurated by the Ambassador of Brazil to India, H. E. André Aranha Correa do Lago. Last but not the least, for the eighth time, L’Opéra has been honoured by receiving the Times Food and Nightlife Award in the “Best Confectionery, Casual Dining” category.

Awaiting to serve you,

Please keep looking out for each other and stay safe.

In early February, L’Opéra opened its latest Salon de Thé at Vegas Mall (first floor). This new outlet reflects the atmosphere of Paris with the traditional L’Opéra flair, and yet builds on those elements in new ways. Laurent Samandari, Managing Director of L’Opéra (and initiator of the company) described the scene: “With colorful flowers displayed on fabulous marble tables, vibrant photography of France decorating the walls, beautiful plants, stylistic lighting, this new Salon de Thé looks and feels just like Paris. In addition, it features a special external terrasse where customers can enjoy sitting in a more open space just as many French do.” Altogether, the space within and without can seat up to 42 guests at a time, and is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.

L’Opéra, Delhi’s finest award-winning French Pâtisserie-Boulangerie and Salon de Thé (Tea Room), officially launched its first ever Café-Restaurant in Delhi at Civil Lines on Saturday, 15th February, 2020. The opening ceremony was attended by over 120 guests from the worlds of business, arts, fashion, the media, and diplomacy, including Ambassadors and High Commissioners.

In a brief welcome speech, Laurent Samandari, Managing Director of L’Opéra (and initiator of the company) spoke about the progress L’Opéra has made over the years, starting with “Pâtisserie-Boulangerie”, then the “Salon de Thé”, and finally this new concept, the “Café-Restaurant”. His father, Kazem Samandari, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of L’Opéra added that “usually sons follow in the footsteps of their fathers, but in our case it has been the other way around… the mature generation is following the lead of their sons... because they know how to innovate, and they are courageous.”

The chief guest of the event, the Ambassador of Brazil to India, H. E. André Aranha Correa do Lago, addressed the gathering, “I am super happy to be here because you have created some amazing places in Delhi that we all want to be in. The ambience is great, the service is amazing. You have added an incredible chapter in Delhi. The fact is, you [M.Samandari] are a bien-faiteur — you make this city even better. I [H.E. Ambassador André Aranha Correa do Lago] came here today just to tell you that we admire you, and we thank you.”

L’Opéra was granted a special place at the India Art Fair this year (January 30th to February 2nd 2020), as the only art exhibition to feature the culinary arts as well as the only place to enjoy a meal, snack or drink within the exhibition area next to special exhibitions from many of the most prominent artists of the country, as well as a number of select artists from around the world. L’Opéra had also participated in the 2019 Art Fair, but this year’s Art Café was even larger and more beautiful, with seating for up to 40 guests, colorful flowers displayed on fabulous Louis XVI-style marble tables, and a 10-foot tall white model of the Eiffel Tower loaned to L’Opéra from the French Institute and facilitated by the French Embassy itself.

L’Opéra Executive Chairman, Kazem Samandari explained how the L’Opéra Art Café fits into the larger picture of the Art Fair, not merely as a place to enjoy a meal, treat or drink within the exhibition area, but as an art exhibition in its own right: “Culinary art, in the French view, is perceived not only as an experience for your taste buds and palette, but a complex harmony of delights for eyes, ears and palette. This Art Café represents a total immersive experience: a holistic combination of the visual arts, in terms of the authentic French ambience, as well as a contribution to the sense of taste that only the culinary arts can offer.”

The L’Opéra culinary exhibition received an abundance of guests, and was often filled to overflowing throughout the day. Among the guests were a number of recognizable names, such as actress Sonam Kapoor, and Ambassadors from various countries, such as Brazil, South Korea, and Canada.

For the eight time since it began its operations in 2011, this year L’Opéra has been honoured with the Times Food and Nightlife Award in the “Best Confectionery, Casual Dining” category. The award was handed over at the ITC Maurya hotel in Chanakyapuri, on March 3rd 2020, by Maryam H. Reshii, curator of the Times Food Guide for Delhi. On the Times of India Food and Nightlife Awards page, she wrote of L’Opéra, “from the day it opened its doors almost a decade ago to today, L’Opéra the brand has retained its core, yet has expanded to many parts of the city, but has done so on its own terms and in places where its presence has lent value…. Whether you tarry awhile in one of the stores, with a little sweet indulgence or nibble a savoury pie, more than just eating or drinking, you carry away a little piece of the brand with you in your heart.”
At L’Opéra, we all strive to do what is morally and ethically right. We care about what we do and endeavour to earn the trust of our customers, our collaborators, our business partners and of the society at large. We do not take this trust for granted and continuously work to sustain it by systematically being honest and transparent, it is a long process which can be testified only through time. In the midst of the current sanitary crisis, we are facing challenging times but it remains important to stick to our core values to come out stronger.

"I'm the Head Chef at L'Opéra. I manage the team, recipes and production. I was the fourth employee in the team and have been with L'Opéra ever since. I just completed 10 years here!

L'Opéra teaches you a lot and I've always been a keen learner! I've learnt something everyday and that is what I love about working here.

I got a great opportunity to visit France and learn from experts there!

I'm a pure workaholic and I'm so passionate about it that even on my day off, the only thing I'm thinking about is cooking and baking. "

A delectable Masala Tea composed of traditional Indian spices such as ginger, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg and pepper. This hot beverage was introduced earlier this year in all L’Opéra Salon de Thé outlets.
